Case-hardening steels are special alloy steels designed for saturating the surface with carbon (case-hardening) and subsequent hardening , thereby achieving a very hard, wear-resistant surface while maintaining a tough core .
This combination of properties is ideal for the production of gears, shafts, pins, bearing rings and other mechanically loaded components .
